A rising account balance can hide a losing game session
An account balance can finish higher than it started even when the games returned less than you staked. A deposit increases the balance without being a game win.
For the topic overview, see Deposit and withdrawal: current account policy prevails.
To understand a session chart, separate money you added from the change caused by play. Otherwise an upward line can tell the wrong story about the result.

Write down the chart’s starting point
The UK Gambling Commission’s account-information standard treats balances and transaction information as distinct records. It is a British technical reference, not an audit of this website or a Philippine account.
Our fictional session begins with 500 units already in the account. The reader then adds 200, stakes 100 across completed rounds and receives 60 back from those rounds. There are no withdrawals, transfers, bonuses, fees or unresolved entries.
Build the balance before interpreting the slope
| Movement | Change | Running balance |
|---|---|---|
| Opening balance | — | 500 |
| Deposit | +200 | 700 |
| Accepted stakes | −100 | 600 |
| Returns from completed rounds | +60 | 660 |
The chart rises from 500 to 660, an increase of 160. But the game result is 60 − 100 = −40. The 200 added from outside the account explains why a losing game session can coexist with a higher closing balance.

Use a funding-adjusted result
For this restricted example, closing balance minus opening balance minus deposits gives 660 − 500 − 200 = −40. The result agrees with returns minus stakes. A chart that starts at zero for net game result would end at −40, even though the account-balance chart ends at 660.
Real accounts may contain other movements. Withdrawals, transfers, promotional credits, reversals and fees must each be classified before extending the formula. Do not label every unexplained difference a win or a loss just to make the totals agree.
Two sensible labels prevent one misleading claim
Label one series “account balance” and another “net completed-game result” only if its underlying entries actually support that calculation. Record the time window and whether pending rounds are excluded. An account balance is a stock at a point in time; the result measures selected movements over a period.
The question is not whether the graph looks positive. It is what the graph counts. Saving the opening value and external funding alongside the closing value makes the conclusion reproducible without guessing from the direction of a line.
